Billie Holiday

if you read this blog, it should come as no surprise to you that im a big fan of miike snow. but i feel that its completely justified. so imagine my surprise when i found out that there was actually a miike snow song i hadnt heard before. how could this have happened?
the track is called “billie holiday”, and i guess its a bonus track on the uk version of their album. why do the non-US countries always get the bonus tracks? i feel like japan especially always gets bonus tracks, and it just aint right. luckily, the internet now exists, so we can all hear these once exclusive bonus tracks. to all of you lawyers out there, do you think theres a valid legal argument that releasing a bonus track in one country only is discriminatory? yeah, i didnt think so. well anyway, hopefully if you havent heard this song yet, it will brighten your day, much in the same way that my day is brightened right now.

Hot Stuff Cafe

Not your regular Hong Kong style cafe. The Chef actually takes the time and plates his food. The place is in a non-descript part of San Gabriel Blvd, almost hidden. What a surprise for a place that sounds like another HK cafe. The cafe has a seasonal menu so you are most likely not to get the same thing every time. They serve beer and wine and the pricing is reasonable.
Taste is subjective so try the place and let us know what you think.

The High Road

Ive been listening to The Broken Bells for awhile now and finally the release their first video for their single The High Road this past Wednesday. I cant tell you how good i think this band is. It was the perfect soundtrack to all the driving i have been doing lately. Well folks here is the video…… Enjoy!

PRIVATE – My Secret Lover (UK Explicit Version) from PRIVATE on Vimeo.

I cant tell you how much i LOVE this band. This video is shot so well. Well anyways i first played this song when i recieved it about 9 months ago at a gig i was doing and everyone was groovin. But in the back of my mind there was a different scene playing. Maybe a red convertable Ferrari cruising Rodeo Drive with a blonde on one side and cigarette hanging out the window while the southern california palms trees are information in the rear view mirror! It reminds me of a good 80’s movie opening sequence but this video has made me change my mind on what i see everytime i hear this song now!

Blue Gold: The Movie

BLUE GOLD is a new documentary on the iconic blue jean – from the working man’s pants to the phenomenon it is today. The film includes stories from collectors, vendors, historians and denim legends. If there is a film to get me more amped than National Geographics, it’s this one.
